Artist: The Tourists - Album: Reality Effect

Before Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart formed Eurythmics, they had a fairly successful band in the UK called The Tourists. I have two of their albums, Reality Effect, Luminous Basement and a Greatest Hits collection. 

The Tourists mashed up Power-Pop Rock, influenced by 60’s pop, with some psychedelia and streamlined New Wave elements. Their group vocal sound at times touches upon a kind of Byrds airiness. Annie Lennox, as expected, is great. 

Reality Effect is my favorite of their releases and the track that totally works for me is their version of Dusty Springfield’s “I Only Want To Be With You.” 

Their music isn’t the easiest to find, in case you wanted to purchase it, so I’ve provided a link to the full Reality Effect album and a fabulously nutty cool video of “I Only Want To Be With You.” It is all really enjoyable if you like this kind of music. I do. A lot.
